About This Course

The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement is designed for individuals who are responsible for assessing learners’ knowledge, skills and occupational competence in vocational and workplace settings. The qualification develops both an understanding of effective assessment practice and the practical skills needed to make fair, valid, reliable and consistent assessment decisions.

The programme focuses on three key units:

Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (D/601/5313) – develops knowledge of assessment principles, methods, planning, decision-making, feedback, quality assurance and legal and organisational requirements.

Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment (H/601/5314) – develops the practical skills required to assess a learner’s occupational competence through evidence generated in a real working environment.

Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding (F/601/5319) – focuses on assessing vocational knowledge, skills and understanding using appropriate assessment methods in settings such as classrooms, workshops, training environments and simulated activities.

Together, these three units provide learners with the knowledge and practical competence required to plan assessment, gather and judge evidence, provide constructive feedback and contribute confidently to high-quality vocational assessment.
